Today MongoliAid launched the world’s first Space Exhibition 4 Gobi Bears. Our event is a quirky way to look back at the space race between the Soviet Union and the USSR as they forged a political and technological battle to be the first nation to place human boot prints on the Moon.
At the same time we are raising awareness and funds to further the cause of Gobi Bear conservation. Our Exhibition is running from 6 April to 22 April at DFO Cairns, from 10am to 4pm each day, excluding Good Friday. We have exhibition programs, Gobi Bear badges, books and knitted bears for sale. Please come along and say hello to Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and company.

MongoliAid to launch world’s first space exhibition for Gobi bears this Easter!
After a successful preview event before Christmas last year, MongoliAid is joining forces with the DFO in Cairns to present the world’s first space exhibition for Gobi bears this Easter school holidays! The exhibition will run from Saturday 6 April through to Monday 22 April. Attendees will experience a selection of historical newspapers, magazines and memorabilia that showcase the race to the Moon between the USA and USSR during the 1950s and 1960s.
The exhibition, much like the original space race itself, will culminate with exhibits that describe and celebrate the Moon landing in July 1969. The exhibition will be free to visit and attendees will have an opportunity to show their support for Gobi bear conservation efforts in Mongolia by purchasing a Gobi bear badge and other merchandise.

One small step for man, One giant leap for Gobi bearsĀ
Last night MongoliAid hosted the world’s first space exhibition for Gobi bears! It was a great night with guests travelling through time to gaze upon rare artifacts that documented the space race from the end of World War 2 to the successful Apollo 11 lunar mission. The sounds of the 60s floated across the room at Cominos House whilst gingerbread Gobi bears, knitted Gobi bears and books about rare Gobi mammals were available for purchase. We raised nearly $1000 in what was an embryonic experimental exhibition experience! Thank you to all MongoliAid supporters and friends who made the night possible. Your sweat and good vibes were and are greatly appreciated.

Yesterday we were very pleased to once again fund two Gobi bear supplemental food drops for the eastern GGSPA beginning September and finishing in October. We sent over $5000 to our partner organization, the MAMA (mazaalai rescue) NGO. Safe travels to the MAMA crew and good luck to all the hungry Gobi bears.

Today we raised nearly $500 towards the cost of the next Gobi bear food drops in September and October. The garage sale marked the end of an era as we will try new and more exciting ways to raise $ for Gobi bear conservation measures moving forward. Upon hearing the news many of our regular patrons lamented the loss of our regular garage sales – we prided ourselves on providing bargains with humour. Thanks to Paula and John for helping out on this auspicious day.
