MongoliAid enters the well business … Christmas 2009
MongoliAid International Inc. has today sent $7700 USD to the Scout Association of Mongolia. The money will be used to build a well, the construction of which will begin in March 2010. We will receive monthly updates (including pictures) from the site once work commences. It is an exciting time for us and we look forward to more good news in the New Year.

Tonight Jaydee and I returned to give an update about the work of MongoliAid International and to gratefully collect donations. I was surprised to receive the Scope Club of Australia Community Award 2009 for Outstanding Voluntary Service – a great honour from great ladies doing great things! Thank you to all the ladies in attendance for your support and kind hospitality – see you next time!
The Mega Mammoth MongoliAid Garage Sale 2009
A BIG thank you to the MongoliAiding Stark family of Emily, Georgia, Andrea and Ed for organising another great event. The people of Atherton really went out of their way to support the Sale and the day was a raging success! Mammoth thanks also to Jaydee, Meagan, Wendy, Jelna, Anne, Pat, and Tony for courageous toiling above and beyond, and a nod of gratitude to Tablelands Regional Council Mayor Tom Gilmore for drawing the lucky raffle tickets. Todays effort will be 100% directed towards financing the construction of our well for the Scout Association of Mongolia.
MongoliAid International Inc to improve well-being of Mongolian Scouts
A dining hall and staff accommodation buildings have already been built at the site. Construction of the well will begin in March 2010, with a completion date in November 2010. The project will cost $7700 USD.
The Association has nearly 10 000 young members and was established in 1992. Many other young people also take part in organised Scouting activities in Mongolia. The organisation is particularly well placed to improve the life skills and self-confidence of rural children.
The well will also benefit the local community. It will reduce the distance travelled by local families to fetch water for domestic and livestock requirements, and will assist the Mongolian government in its poverty eradication plan by upgrading the ratio of clean groundwater sources to the normal water provision grid.
MongoliAid was approached for assistance by Bayarjargal Damdindagva, the Secretary General of the Association. We are very happy that our humble new organisation will represent Australia in this exciting endeavour.
MongoliAid will also begin the construction of the first wells in the world named after Beatles John, Paul, George and Ringo in 2011, in the Gobi province of Bayankhongor.
The pictures accompanying this release show the fledgling camp site, together with young MongoliAiders Emily and Georgia toasting our good news with glasses of fresh water.

Introducing Ambassador Jambaldorj, the Mongolian Ambassador to Australia and a fan of MongoliAid International Inc. On 28 October I presented the Ambassador with a MongoliAid T-shirt in Sydney, while meeting him and the Honary Consul-General to Mongolia, Mr Peter Sloane. Thanks Peter for organising our meetings!
